Total and differential cross sections for medium-energy H + C2H2 collisions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Total and/or differential cross sections for single electron capture, single ionization, double ionization, and electron capture plus ionization have been measured for collisions of protons at energies of 6, 12.5, 25, and 50 keV with C2H2 molecules. Two-dimensional position-sensitive detectors were used for both the projectile and recoil particle detection. Coincidences between the recoil time-of-flights and the projectile charge states were used to distinguish different collision processes to obtain the total cross sections for those processes listed above. The total and differential cross sections for each process were put on an absolute scale by a normalization to a known collision process.

Differential cross sections and polarization of Hα in H+ +H collisions
The presence of an axially symmetric angular distribution of energetic protons in astrophysical plasmas can be detected by measuring the linear polarization of the lines emitted from collisionally excited levels of atoms. Another signature of proton beams can be found in the study of line profiles. For a quantitative interpretation of the observations of the Hα line one needs to know all the re...

The impact parameter formalism of the single-center close-coupling, first-, and second-order Born approximations have been applied to investigate direct excitations of Helium He+(2s) and Lithium Li++(2s) ions by colliding with protons or antiprotons. The total 3s, 3p, and 3d scaled excitation cross sections are calculated in the scaled impact energy region (2 to 1000 keV). The present work aims...
متن کاملElectron-Impact Total Ionization Cross Sections of CH and C2H2
Electron-impact total ionization cross sections for the CH radical and C2H2 (acetylene) have been calculated using the Binary-Encounter-Bethe (BEB) model. The BEB model combines the Mott cross section and the asymptotic form of the Bethe theory, and has been shown to generate reliable ionization cross sections for a large variety of molecules. The BEB cross sections for CH and C2H2 are in good ...

We report a joint experimental and theoretical study that directly tests the quality of the potential energy surfaces used to calculate energy changing cross sections of water in collision with helium and molecular hydrogen, at conditions relevant for astrophysics. Fully state-to-state differential cross sections are measured for H(2)O-He and H(2)O-H(2) collisions at 429 and 575 cm(-1) collisio...
